Admin User Training: Creating an Alarm Profile

To create or edit an Alarm Profile please follow the steps listed below.

1. From the Navigate button in the top right corner of your page, click "Settings".

2. Under The Alarms and Notifications section of the settings page, choose Alarm Profiles.

3. To create a new profile, click the green "Create Alarm Profile" button.  This will load a blank alarm profile.

4. Under the Alarm Profile Name, give your profile an appropriate name.  This will be determined by what you are monitoring, and what type of unit you are monitoring with.  For example, "Fridge °F", Freezer °C, OR Room Pressure, etc...  Using this type of differentiator will help you determine which profile to use on which point.

5. To turn Excursion (Threshold) Alarming on, click the toggle under Excursion alarms.  This will cause a second toggle to appear.

The first toggle is to turn on Alarming, meaning this will profile will generate an alarm if the monitored points exceed the set ranges.

The second toggle is to turn on Threshold Automatic Resolution (Auto-Resolve).  The Auto-Resolve feature will enable the SoniCloud server to resolve your alarm once the point is back within your desired range for a set amount of minutes, which you will set in the Threshold Automatic Resolution Buffer Time field.  This field will only populate if Auto-Resolve is turned on. The minimum Auto-Resolve time this field should be set to is 20 minutes.

6. To turn Offline Alarming on, click the toggle under Offline alarms.  This will cause a second toggle to appear.

The first toggle is to turn on Alarming, meaning this will profile will generate an alarm if the monitored point cannot connect to the server.

The second toggle is to turn on Offline Automatic Resolution (Auto-Resolve).  The Auto-Resolve feature will enable the SoniCloud server to resolve your alarm once the point is back online and connected.  There is no minimum Auto-Resolve time for offline alarms.  As soon as the server recognizes that the point is back online, it will resolve the alarm.

7. Under Alarm Threshold and Buffer Times, you will set your alarm parameters and your appropriate alarm buffer times.  In the example below, the profile for a refrigerator with a Celsius profile is shown.  It is Sonicu's recommendation that only the High and Low thresholds have buffer times set.  We do not recommend setting buffer times on Caution thresholds.

8 To set the Threshold buffer time, select the field in the right side column.  Once you do, a popup will appear.  Use the up or down arrows to set the correct buffer time.  The counter will go up or down in increments of 5 minutes.  Sonicu's standard recommended buffer time is 35 minutes.  If you need to go lower than that, the lowest acceptable time is 20 minutes.  Any buffer time lower than 20 minutes can interfere with the function of your Sonicu Alarm handler and could cause nuisance alarms.
