How to Update Firmware via SoniCloud Mobile App (SoftAP)

(Updating Firmware via SoftAP can only be done with Duos on Firmware Version of 2022.1205 or newer)


1. Open SoniCloud Mobile with your Mobile Device. If not downloaded, Scan the QR Code below. (Log in with the same credentials as sonicumonitoring.com)
2. Select “Settings” on the bottom right of the screen then select “Scan for SoniShield Meters (BLE)”.

3. Search by the Last 4 of the Duo’s Serial Number or if already on the list, you can select the Duo you want to connect to.


4. Once Selected, the App will take you to the main Settings page for the Duo you have connected to. Scroll Down and Select the “Firmware Updater (SoftAP)” option.

5. This next screen will provide information that you will need for this process. It will provide a password that will be used to connect to the WiFi from the Duo. Select “Update Firmware”.


6. The Duo will start to Reboot and another popup will appear. Once this Popup appears, you have 3 Minutes to connect to the WiFi from the Duo (Your Mobile device will not have actual WiFi so it may say No Internet Access). Find the “SonicuAP_XXXX” WiFi and connect to it with the Password provided.

7. Once you have connected to the WiFi from the Duo, go back to the App. The app will send a File to the Duo Device. Once sent another Popup will appear asking if you would like to apply the Firmware. Select “Yes Please”.


8. Once selected, the App will begin updating the Duo’s Firmware.


9. Once finished, you should see another Popup letting you know if it was
successful and now your Duo will be on the most up-to-date Firmware Version.
