Manually Updating Your WiFi Network Settings (MVP Series Only)

THIS ARTICLE IS NOT TO BE USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE SONISHIELD SERIES OF DEVICES

It may be necessary to manually update the WiFi settings for your Sonicu meter needs to be programmed for a different 2.4GHz WiFi network.
Note: This WiFi settings update procedure only applies to 2.4GHz WiFi networks. 5GHz networks are not supported at this time.
 
You will need:
 
  • Your Sonicu meter (with access to your WiFi network signal)
  • A micro SD card reader (Some computers have built-in readers)
  • Computer
  • Notepad++ (Download)
Updating WiFi Device Settings
 
WARNING: Sonicu SD cards are specific to the device that they were removed from! DO NOT mix up SD cards and devices!
 
  1. Using a paper clip, eject the SD card from the device by pushing the paper clip into the slot until you hear a click. The SD card will eject itself from the device.
  2. Insert the SD card into the micro SD card reader.
  3. Access the SD card from your computer and open the file named "MVP410.cfg" or "MVP440.cfg" using Notepad++. You may need to right-click the file and select "Edit with Notepad++".
  4. Scroll until you find the following lines and enter the correct WiFi SSID and Passkey information for your network.  **PLEASE NOTE: SSID and Passkey are both case-sensitive. Please double-check the information before saving.**
    // 1 to 32 characters
    WIFI SSID = Sonicu
    // Enter 1 to 64 characters
    WIFI PASSKEY = passkey
  5. Save your changes and eject the SD card from the reader.
  6. Reinsert the SD card into the device.
  7. Using a paperclip hold down the reset button and continue holding it until the LED flashes green. During this time the SD card loads the new WiFi settings into the device. This can take up to 30 seconds. Once complete, the device will display one of the following LED colors:
 
Green: The device is successfully connected to your WiFi network. Log in to your dashboard to confirm connectivity.
 
Blue-Purple: The device was not able to connect to your WiFi network. Confirm you have a strong WiFi signal at your location. If your WiFi signal is good, return to step one and confirm your WiFi settings are correct.
