Introduction
This guide can be used for both differential pressures and room conditions monitoring using DPS and/or HT. If using DPS only, disregard all instructions regarding HT sensor and sensor cable.
Tools and Supplies needed for installation
1. Phone or Tablet with SoniCloud Mobile App
2. Zip Ties – 7” Black
3. 1” Zip Tie Mounting Squares - Black
4. Flush Cutters (to cut zip ties)
Items included
Installation of your Ambient Temperature & Humidity (HT) Sensor Instructions
- Install the HT sensor at the pick-up location. If the pick-up plate is already attached to the wall, insert the sensor cable, which should be hanging out through the rubber grommet, into the HT sensor. Push the large end of the HT sensor into the rubber grommet on the pick-up plate.
This is what the DPS hose and sensor cable look like on the inside of the wall.
- If the pick-plate is not already attached to the wall, screw the pick-up plate to the wall with the included screws after installing the HT sensor.
This completes the installation of the pick-up and HT sensor.
Installation of your SoniShield Duo Instructions
Before you start:
The Differential Pressure Sensor should be located in a DIFFERENT room than the Air Pressure Pickup:
Verify the DPS/HT PICKUP is located in the room being monitored for +/- air pressure. These pickups can be mounted on the wall or ceiling.
On the outside room, find the location where the DPS tubing and HT sensor cable were run from the DPS/HT pickup. This location should be the desired location for the Duo meter.
Installing the DPS/HT Pickup
- Remove the red-colored adhesive backing on the bottom of the meter. Clean the surface where the meter is going to be located. Place the meter in the desired location pressing firmly to ensure full adhesion.
- Connect one end of the tubing to the pickup and the other end to pickup marked “HI” on the DPS sensor. Ensure tubing is pushed down over all the hose inlet barbs. Refer to Before You Startat the top of this page for images regarding proper setup.
- Plug the DPS sensor into the DUO meter. If a sensor cable has been provided, plug the female end of the extension cable into the DPS sensor. Plug the male end of the cable into the DUO meter’s input jack. Remove the red-colored adhesive backing on the bottom of the sensor and mount it near the DUO meter location pressing firmly to ensure full adhesion.
- Plug the sensor cable running from the DPS/HT pickup to the DUO meter location into the remaining input jack on the DUO meter.
- Plug the supplied micro USB power cable and adapter into the DUO meter, and plug into a nearby wall outlet if available.
Final Connectivity to SoniCloud and set up of your SoniShield Duo Instructions
- Turn the meter on by using the included reset pin. Hold the On/Off Transmit button down until the LED on the front-left side flashes green, then release the On/Off Transmit Button. The LED will start flashing in accordance with the SoniShield Duo’s boot cycle. If your device was preprogrammed by Sonicu, your device should now connect to your WiFi network!
- Open the SoniCloud mobile app which should have been installed on your cellular device during the kick-off call and log in. If you have not yet downloaded the SoniCloud mobile app, please use the QR code to download the app and use your SoniCloud login credentials to log in.
- On the “Settings” page of the SoniCloud Mobile app, select “Scan for Sonicu Devices”. The SoniCloud Mobile app will then list any Duo’s that have been powered on and are in proximity.
- Select the device that you are currently implementing by either typing the last 4 numbers/letters from the serial number on the duo or scrolling down the list to locate the correct serial number. Select the device, and the SoniCloud Mobile app will read the configuration of the SoniShield Duo.
- Zero the DPS sensor to assure correct pressure readings. Follow this guide to zero the sensor for beginning usage:
- Remove the tube from the HI end of the DPS sensor and open the Mobile App.
- Click the LED Reset via Bluetooth and then click Dark Blue: DPS Field Calibration.
- Wait approximately 1 minute and then reattach the tube to the HI end of the DPS sensor.
- Click Back to return to the previous options page.
- A page of options will appear. Select Implementation Wizard if the Network Questionnaire was completed and provided to Sonicu prior to shipping. If the Network Questionnaire was not provided or provided after shipping, please follow the instructions on #10.
Click Get Started and follow the steps (see pictures below) - The next step is connectivity. Your Duo meter should automatically connect and will turn from red Establishing Connectivity to green indicating Connected! Click Next Step.
Your first Duo meter and point have now been set up and can be seen on the SoniCloud Dashboard
Perform the same process above for the rest of the meters and the sensors to complete the installation process. - If the Customer’s network information was not provided to Sonicu for pre-programming, the Duo meters must be configured with the customer’s Wifi SSID & Passkey before installation. Sonicu strongly recommends completing Network Questionnaire or contacting your Sonicu Customer Success Manager to get a profile template set up if you’re doing multiple meters, and skipping to the next step!
Click Wifi/Meshing and follow the instructions
Once SSID and Passphrase have been entered and updated, return to Implementation Wizard to complete the installation of hardware. - If your Network Questionnaire was received after the shipment of your hardware, Sonicu will provide a Device Profile Template that includes your network settings. Please select this option and follow the instructions.
Once the Device Profile Template has been applied to each Duo meter, please continue with the Implementation Wizard to complete the installation of Sonicu hardware. - Access the Implementation Wizard at sonicumonitoring.com to complete the Point Setup and verify your meters and connected and transmitting.
Troubleshooting your meter if it doesn’t connect:
- Use your SoniCloud Mobile App to initiate a Green LED Reset.
- Run a APScan for diagnostic purposes and notify technical support for additional assistance after you have successfully ran the diagnostics. Please include the site/customer name and meter serial number in your request
- Open SoniCloud Mobile app on your smartphone
- Select “Settings” on the bottom right corner
- Select “Scan for Sonicu Devices”
- Find the device you want to diagnose by searching for the last 4 characters of the serial number and select the meter.
- Select “Diagnostics Mode” then “Start Diagnostics”.
- Wait about 3 minutes until the on-screen prompt indicates “Diagnostics Complete”. Click ok.
- Notify Sonicu support that you have successfully ran the diagnostics.
