Admin User Training: Using the Alarm Config Snapshot Tool on SoniCloud

The Snapshot Tool will allow you to quickly and efficiently get your site to an optimized level of alarming.

If there is an issue with a point on your site, the Snapshot tool will display a banner across the top of the page.  This banner may appear on either the Dashboard page or on the graph page of an individual point.  Select "Click here to fix" to be taken to the Snapshot Tool page.

The Snapshot tool will show each point and the status of the alarming for that point.  The icon in the left column will indicate if that point has issues, has no issues, or has issues that have been ignored.

- Point has no issues

- Point has active issues

- Point has active issues that have been marked ingored

Ignored issues mean that you have acknowledged that the issue exists, but it is not something you want to be marked as active, or don't want to receive alarms for.  This may be the case if you have a point that you want to monitor, but do not want to have alarms set.  Ambient Room Temp and Humidity are both common points where users will not set alarm profiles.

To see what issues exist on a point, click the magnifying glass in the right-hand column.

There are 4 types of issues that can be identified by the Snapshot tool:

No Threshold Alarms - This indicates the point does not have a range set to generate alarms.

No Offline Alarms - This indicates the point will not generate alarms if it loses connectivity to Sonicloud.

No Users with Notifications Enabled - This indicates no users will receive an alarm when one is generated.

Long-lived Active Alarm - This indicates a point has had an alarm in Active status for 30+ days.

When you click Fix under a specific issue, the site will go to the page where you need to fix the issue.

If there is no alarm profile set, you would be taken to the Edit point page so you can assign an alarm profile. Instructions to assign an alarm profile can be found here. Admin User Training: Assigning an alarm profile to a point

If there is an alarm profile set but alarms have not been activated within the alarm profile, you will be taken to the Alarm Profiles page so you can edit the alarm profile to turn alarming on.  Instructions on editing an alarm profile can be found here. Admin User Training: Editing an existing Alarm Profile

If there are no users set to receive alarms, you will be taken to the Edit Zone page so you can assign users to receive alarms for that Zone.  You can also turn on Group Alarming if it has been activated for your site.  Instructions on editing a zone can be found here. Admin User Training: Editing a Zone on SoniCloud

If there are Long-lived alarms, you will be taken to the Alarm Handler so you can either Snooze or Resolve the alarm.  Instructions to snooze or resolve an alarm can be found here. Admin User Training: Responding to and Resolving Alarms from SoniCloud Website

If you wish to ignore an issue in the Snapshot Tool, after clicking the magnifying glass to see the point issues, simply click Ignore. This will mark the point as an ignored issue.
